High Protein Diet Foods

One of the trends of greater weight loss in recent years is the use of a high protein diet. Some of these plans have become a great success with Atkins, the Dukan diet and the Zone diet is just some of the best known.

What are some of the highest in protein diet common foods that you can find on a menu these plans?

Usually the focus is more on lean protein sources, which contain many of the amount of fat. Some of the foods you can expect to see on a high protein diet menu are:

    -
Eggs

- Chicken breast

- Whey protein

- Low fat dairy products

- Turkey

- Lean cuts of meat

- Some fish

It should be noted that soy is also a source of protein, but some diet plans do not advocate eating. Walnuts, almonds and seeds are also rich in protein but also high in fat (good fats actually) which is why it can also be less than the recommended protein foods as mentioned above.

A diet rich in protein menu is generally low in carbohydrates so it is unlikely you will find bread, pasta, rice, etc., as part of the recommended foods. Most diet plans call for 30-50% of their consumption of calories from protein daliy. It is not always recommended health wise, because there are risks involved. These risks include:

1. Lack of a balanced diet as essential nutrients are cut in favor of more protein.

2. Kidney problems such as the kidneys need to work to process all the protein you eat and this can put a lot of pressure on them.

So why is an increase in protein intake recommended by many diet plans?

The reason is that this can lead to weight loss, pure and simple. The protein can be beneficial for fat loss for a number of reasons:

1. It helps you keep full and reduce hunger. Therefore, many programs recommend that includes protein foods for breakfast.

2. Protein provides a metabolic boost short that the body has to use a lot of energy to digest.

However, as there are risks, it is important not to overdo things. A high protein diet should not be used if it is extreme and if a plan is prescribed power imbalance. You can check with your doctor about any plan before undertaking it.

Make sure to eat foods rich in protein, but do not fall into the trap of eating too much of them.
