The Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution book was first published in 1979. Since then, many people have turned to the Atkins diet you get to eat and there was a lot of hype as a result. It is a good alternative for low-fat diets are difficult to maintain. But what are the basic principles of the Atkins diet?

Atkins diet foods to eat varied in four steps. What you can eat will differ slightly with each step. Going through the steps, you are allowed more and more carbohydrates, but should be composed mainly of fiber-rich carbohydrates such as green leafy vegetables and some vegetables. White rice, white bread, potatoes and pasta made from "white" or processed flour remain for the entire time you are in the Atkins plan.
